Hi, this is Zifeng. I build AI scientists for biomedicine, and I am now working toward AI that builds AI and recursively self-improve, then ultimately toward scientific superintelligence. My research focuses on two foundations:

Scientific Agents — developing agents that reason over scientific evidence and execute long-horizon workflows across literature review, trial design, patient recruitment, and biomedical data analysis [Nat. Commun. '24, npj Digit. Med. '25, Nat. Biomed. Eng. '26, Nat. Mach. Intell. '26]
Scientific World Models — building interactive models of patients, clinical trials, and scientific processes that provide grounded feedback for agent learning and evaluation [npj Digit. Med. '26, KDD '23, EMNLP '22, IJCAI '24]
Current Focus

Extending these foundations toward AI4AI and recursive self-improvement: AI scientists that design, train, evaluate, and improve scientific AI models, while co-evolving with scientific world models through experimentation, feedback, and reinforcement learning.
